Our client is a manufacturing company and is looking for a Senior Polymer Material Scientist.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$120k – $140k

Position Overview:

The Senior Polymer Material Scientist will lead the development of advanced polymer adhesives and compounds in a hands-on, lab-based environment. This role focuses on creating innovative materials and processes to support next-generation 5G products. The position operates on a day shift schedule, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities of the Senior Polymer Material Scientist:

  • Act as the technical lead for compounding and producing innovative materials for advanced power conversion packaging.
  • Develop high-performance thermosetting polymers (e.g., epoxies, polyurethanes) for 5G applications.
  • Mix and compound highly filled systems to meet strict performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including companies and universities, to expand technical capabilities.
  • Oversee the transition of new materials from lab development to full-scale production.
  • Manage the full compounding process, including material sourcing, inspection, quality control, and packaging.
  • Provide hands-on support in polymer processing, data collection, analysis, and report preparation.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and quality control documentation.

Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Polymer Material Scientist:

  • 5–7 years of experience, including at least 4 years formulating thermosetting polymer compounds and adhesives.
  • Experience working with toll manufacturers is a plus.
  • Ability to design experiments and accurately interpret results.
  • Hands-on experience with lab analysis techniques such as TGA, TMA, DSC, and FTIR for thermoset materials and raw components.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience preparing SOPs.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Polymer Material Scientist:

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong presentation skills, including presenting to senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to complete projects independently with minimal oversight.

Education Requirements:

  • MS or PhD in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science with an emphasis on Materials Science.
