This firm partners closely with its clients and project teams and continues to invest in its finance and accounting infrastructure to support expansion. They are now looking for a Staff Accountant.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$115k – $130k plus bonus

Position Overview:


The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the firm’s financial operations, reporting directly to senior finance leadership. This Staff Accountant position is responsible for general accounting and billing functions within a fast-paced professional services environment, including invoicing, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting. The ideal Staff Accountant is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable partnering cross-functionally with project managers and internal teams, offering strong exposure, ownership, and growth.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

  • Execute accurate and timely client billing and invoicing processes as the Staff Accountant.
  • Manage accounts receivable and lead follow-up on past-due balances.
  • Partner with project managers to support monthly billing reviews.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate timesheet completion.
  • Reconcile transactional, billing, and resource management data.
  • Assist in resolving discrepancies across financial records and reports.
  • Support project-related contract administration, including change orders and amendments.
  • Assist with project close-outs to ensure all financial obligations are satisfied.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting for leadership.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Time-sheet billing experience is required.
  • 2–6 years of experience in a Staff Accountant, billing coordinator, or similar accounting role.
  • Hands-on experience with billing and invoicing in a time-based professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end billing workflows.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Experience in architecture, engineering, or professional services environments.
  • Exposure to project-based accounting and contract-driven billing.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
