Our client is a private label company based in Midtown Manhattan. They are looking to add a Technical Designer to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$105k – $110k

Position Overview:

The Technical Designer will oversee the technical development process for women’s woven apparel from concept through production. This individual will work cross-functionally with Design and Production teams to ensure fit, construction, and quality standards are executed accurately and on schedule. This Technical Designer reports to the Manager of Technical Design and does not have direct reports.

Responsibilities of the Technical Designer:

  • Create and maintain detailed tech packs and garment specifications.
  • Lead fit sessions and provide clear, actionable fit corrections.
  • Communicate construction details and spec updates to overseas factories.
  • Review and approve samples from proto through production stages.
  • Ensure accuracy of grading and garment measurements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support calendar deadlines.
  • Manage multiple styles simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

Required Experience/Skills for the Technical Designer:

  • 6 – 10 years of Technical Design experience in women’s apparel.
  • Strong background in women’s woven categories (tops, dresses, blouses, etc.).
  • Experience working in a high-volume production environment.
  • Ability to independently lead fit sessions.
  • Strong knowledge of grading, pattern correction, and garment construction.
  • Experience with PLM systems.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Technical Designer:

  • Experience in structured production environments.
  • Background in multi-category apparel businesses.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field is preferred.
