Client Overview:

Our client is a Laboratory/Food Production Facility, and they are now looking for a Microbiology Laboratory Technician.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$18/hr – $21/hr

Position Overview:

The Microbiology Laboratory Technician supports food safety and quality by performing microbiological testing and maintaining laboratory standards. This role requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities of the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:

  • Prepare and test raw, in-process, and finished product samples.
  • Document test results and follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  • Review test results and manage product holds and releases.
  • Perform bacterial identifications and maintain laboratory databases.
  • Sterilize biohazards and assist with sample pickups.
  • Support laboratory quality control procedures and equipment checks.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and report any safety or quality concerns.
  • Attend safety meetings and comply with all workplace safety policies.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Experience/Skills for the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:

  • Flexible schedule with availability to work weekends.
  • Must wear required PPE, including hair nets, earplugs, and earmuffs.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, stand, stoop, push, and pull.
  • Frequent sitting and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in environments with temperature and humidity changes.
  • Comfortable working in loud and wet areas within a large manufacturing plant.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Microbiology Laboratory Technician:

  • Flexible work schedule.
  • Good communication and basic math skills.
  • Comfortable working with diverse personalities and teams.
  • Strong multitasking ability and willingness to learn.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
