Client Overview:

Our client is a leading manufacturer dedicated to delivering high-quality, precision-engineered products to customers across a variety of industries. This is a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment where teamwork, accountability, and problem solving are highly valued. They are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$115k – $120k

Position Overview:

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for providing accurate cost analysis, maintaining standard costing, evaluating production performance, and supporting strategic financial decisions across the organization. This role plays a critical part in driving financial visibility and operational efficiency within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities of the Senior Cost Accountant:

  • Lead all aspects of cost accounting, including standard cost development, cost roll-ups, BOM reviews, labor and overhead analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances, including purchase price variances, production variances, scrap, and yield.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate standard costs, cost models, and cost updates in alignment with operational changes.
  • Collaborate with operations to evaluate production efficiency, cost drivers, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Perform monthly closing activities, including inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and detailed cost reporting.

Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Cost Accountant:

  • 7+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost structures.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Cost Accountant:

  • CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with operations teams in a manufacturing setting.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
