Salary/Hourly Rate:
$78k+ Annually
Position Overview:
As a Staff Accountant, you will be the backbone of the Finance team, ensuring accurate reporting, seamless month-end closes, and actionable insights. Your work will directly influence business decisions while collaborating across departments in a luxury retail environment. If meticulous financial management, reporting, and analysis are your strengths, this role is your runway to success.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable for multiple departments.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support month-end close processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing financial insights for business decisions.
- Handle ad hoc accounting projects as assigned by the Finance Manager or Director.
Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:
- 2 – 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail, fashion, or luxury brands.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, large datasets).
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:
- Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, or other ERP systems.
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling in retail or luxury sectors.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Master’s degree, CPA, or progress towards a CPA is preferred.
