They are an excellent organization with a large portfolio of properties, and the Director of Finance will join a well-groomed team. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$150k – $160k
Position Overview:
The Director of Finance will handle all aspects of accounting and reporting for the corporate entity. There are numerous smaller entities and properties that roll up into the corporate books.
Responsibilities of the Director of Finance:
- Provide monthly P&L commentary and variance analysis for property portfolios.
- Analyze the general ledger, calculate accruals, and prepare journal entries.
- Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Assist with internal and external audit processes.
- Manage relationships and liaise with external partners including operations teams, vendors, and auditors.
- Participate in projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial close process.
- Oversee accounts payable activities including writing checks, posting entries, bank reconciliations, monthly financial reporting, and intercompany transactions.
- Maintain an understanding of government funding structures and related regulatory requirements.
- Oversee development-related financial activities including refinancing of assets, construction financing, construction draws, and consolidation into corporate reporting.
Required Experience/Skills for the Director of Finance:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience within real estate accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Affordable Housing Programs including HUD, LIHTC, and Section 8.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Independent and self-starter with strong critical thinking abilities.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
