Our client’s company specializes in discount retail, offering a diverse range of products including sleepwear, loungewear, sportswear, graphic-driven items, accessories, and home goods. Our client is seeking a Senior Designer to join their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$100k – $120k Annually
Position Overview:
The Senior Designer will lead design efforts across a significant portion of the discount retail business. The Senior Designer role involves hands-on design work spanning sleepwear, loungewear, sportswear, and graphic-driven products, with some involvement in accessories and home categories. The ideal candidate is adept at creating commercially viable products, working efficiently, and managing multiple categories simultaneously.
Responsibilities of the Senior Designer:
- Lead design and development for key accounts.
- Manage product lifecycle from concept to production.
- Design products across sleepwear, loungewear, sportswear, and graphic-driven programs.
- Guide graphic direction across various categories.
- Collaborate closely with the Sales teams to align product direction with customer needs.
- Oversee timelines to ensure on-schedule product development and delivery.
- Coordinate with overseas teams to ensure accurate product execution.
- Handle multiple programs concurrently to maintain workflow momentum.
- Supervise a design assistant (to be hired) supporting CADs, tech packs, and development tasks.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Designer:
- Extensive experience in apparel design, preferably within high-volume or value-focused environments.
- Expertise in loungewear, sleepwear, and casual sportswear design.
- Proficiency in graphic design and print development.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of retail success factors.
- Ability to work quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable managing multiple product categories simultaneously.
- Highly organized with strong multitasking capabilities.
- Experience collaborating with overseas production teams is advantageous.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Designer:
- Demonstrated a high level of ownership and responsibility in previous roles.
- Experience working across multiple product categories.
