Our client is a well-established apparel company seeking a creative and detail-oriented Temp Associate Children’s Designer to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for trend, color, print, and silhouette, as well as a passion for designing fun, age-appropriate products for the children’s market.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$28/hr – $30/hr
Position Overview:
The Temp Associate Children’s Designer will support the design and development of seasonal children’s apparel collections across categories, including infant, toddler, girls, and boys. This individual will work closely with senior design leadership and cross-functional partners to create trend-right, commercially viable products that align with brand direction and customer needs.
Responsibilities of the Temp Associate Children’s Designer:
- Assist in the design and development of seasonal children’s apparel collections.
- Create sketches, CADs, colorways, and technical design packages.
- Research market trends, colors, fabrics, prints, and graphics relevant to the kidswear space.
- Support the selection of fabrics, trims, and embellishments with comfort, safety, and functionality in mind.
- Partner with Merchandising, Production, and Sourcing teams throughout the product development process.
- Maintain design boards, line sheets, and seasonal presentation materials.
- Revise designs and updates based on feedback from internal teams.
- Assist with fittings, sample reviews, and product approvals.
- Ensure all designs align with brand standards, target customer, and business objectives.
Required Experience/Skills for the Temp Associate Children’s Designer:
- 3+ years of experience in apparel design, preferably in children’s wear.
- Strong Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop skills.
- Experience creating CADs, sketches, and tech packs.
- Understanding of children’s sizing, fit, and construction.
- Knowledge of children’s apparel safety requirements and comfort considerations.
- Strong trend awareness with an eye for color, print, and silhouette.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Temp Associate Children’s Designer:
- Experience designing across multiple children’s categories, including infant, toddler, girls, and boys.
- Knowledge of textiles, prints, embellishments, and wash development.
- Experience working in a fast-paced retail, wholesale, or licensed apparel environment.
- Ability to interpret trends into a commercially successful product.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field is preferred.
