About Atrium:

Client Overview:

Our client is a private family office managing diverse investments and assets, including alternative investments such as hedge funds and private equity. The organization values precision, discretion, and proactive financial management while working closely with family members and professional advisors. They are currently looking to add a Controller to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$110k – $135k plus Bonus

Position Overview:

The Controller will oversee day-to-day financial operations, including cash management, reconciliations, payroll, and accounts payable. This individual will also monitor investment activity, work closely with the CFO, Senior Controller, and other stakeholders, and provide accurate reporting to support strategic financial decisions.

Responsibilities of the Controller:

• The Controller will download and reconcile transaction details from online bank and brokerage accounts to internal systems
• Monitor and track investment activity, including NAV statements, K-1s, capital calls, and distribution notices
• Ensure accurate recording of cash activity and valuations
• The Controller will manage the accounts payable process and assist with payroll and benefits administration
• Work collaboratively with the CFO, Senior Controller, family members, attorneys, tax accountants, brokers, and bankers
• The Controller will support ad-hoc financial and operational projects as needed
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations

Required Experience/Skills for the Controller:

• Experience with QuickBooks Online is required.
• Prior exposure to capital markets and various asset classes.
• Strong reconciliation experience and fund accounting knowledge.
• Comfortable interacting with C-Level professionals, both internally and externally.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
• Advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Controller:

• Familiarity with the alternative investment industry (Hedge Fund/Private Equity).
• Experience with fund operations, legal documents, fund structures, and compliance.
• Knowledge of Bill.com, Expensify, and Advent Axys systems.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
• CPA is strongly preferred.
