Our client is a well-established and growing public accounting firm based in Northern New Jersey, known for their strong client relationships and commitment to quality and professional development. The firm services a diverse client base across multiple industries and continues to expand its audit practice. As part of this growth, they are adding an Audit Manager to their team. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$125k – $135k plus Annual discretionary bonus
Position Overview:
The Audit Manager will be responsible for managing multiple audit engagements from planning through completion. This role requires prior experience independently owning audits, reviewing financial statements and footnotes, and leading audit teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and confident, serving as the primary point of contact for clients while mentoring and developing staff.
Responsibilities of the Audit Manager:
- Manage and lead audit engagements from start to finish.
- Oversee audit planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, and engagement wrap-up.
- Review financial statements, footnotes, and supporting workpapers.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and firm audit standards.
- Supervise, train, and develop audit seniors and staff.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to team members.
- Serve as the primary client liaison and maintain strong relationships.
- Identify, research, and resolve complex accounting and auditing issues.
- Assist with audit process improvements and firm initiatives.
Required Experience/Skills for the Audit Manager:
- A CPA license is required.
- 5 – 7+ years of public accounting audit experience.
- Proven experience in fully owning and managing audit engagements.
- Strong expertise in financial statements, footnotes, and workpapers.
- Prior experience in training and developing audit staff.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Audit Manager:
- Experience within a small to mid-sized CPA firm preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
