Client Overview:

Our client is a consumer products company that specializes in cosmetics/personal care products. They are currently seeking a Packaging Procurement Specialist to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$60k – $75k

Position Overview:

The Packaging Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing and procuring primary and secondary packaging materials to meet production, quality, cost, and service goals. This role works closely with suppliers and multiple internal teams to ensure the timely availability of packaging components while optimizing costs and maintaining supply reliability.

Responsibilities of the Packaging Procurement Specialist:

  • Procurement & Execution:
    • Oversee procurement of various packaging components, converting material requirements into purchase orders, tracking order progress, and resolving supply challenges.
    • Support production needs through effective purchasing and coordinate with international partners as needed.
  • Supplier Management & Negotiation:
    • Manage a broad supplier network across multiple packaging materials.
    • Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and delivery conditions.
    • Implement cost reduction initiatives and monitor supplier performance through key metrics and regular assessments.
  • Supply Planning & Inventory Control:
    • Collaborate with Planning and suppliers to align packaging supply with demand forecasts.
    • Optimize inventory levels and safety stock while balancing service and capital efficiency.
    • Identify and address potential supply risks proactively.
  • Data & Process Oversight:
    • Maintain accurate procurement data and supplier information within ERP systems.
    • Facilitate supplier onboarding and ensure adherence to procurement policies and audit standards.
    • Continuously improve purchasing processes and visibility into lead times.

Required Experience/Skills for the Packaging Procurement Specialist:

  • In-depth understanding of packaging materials and procurement processes
  • Familiarity with inventory management, lead time coordination, and cost control
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel 

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Packaging Procurement Specialist:

  • Experience using MRP and/or ERP systems
  • Knowledge of quality, GMP, and regulatory standards
  • Exposure to international logistics and global sourcing (Europe/Asia) 

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineering, or other related fields are required.
