Our client, a large and well-established organization, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their Tampa, FL team. This is a highly visible role offering strong growth potential and the opportunity to continue developing both technical and leadership skills. This position is heavily focused on cost accounting, FP&A, and leadership, requiring someone who can take ownership of financials end-to-end and operate effectively within a complex, multi-entity environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SOX, US GAAP, and cost accounting processes, and be able to step in with minimal ramp-up time.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$115k – $130k + Competitive bonus
Position Overview:
This role works closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams while providing guidance to accounting staff. It supports key accounting activities throughout the close cycle, enhances financial systems and reporting, and drives insights through cost and operational analysis. The position plays a critical role in supporting business decisions and presenting financial results to both executive and operational teams.
Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager:
- Lead cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, and ongoing maintenance of cost structures.
- Manage inventory, COGS, scrap, and cost centers, including reconciliations, cycle counts, physical inventory, and reserves.
- Monitor SAP-based inventory transactions.
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting.
- Analyze operational and financial data to provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Present financial results and insights to executives and operational teams.
- Partner with FP&A and audit teams on budgeting, forecasting, SOX compliance, and internal controls.
- Support continuous improvement of systems, reporting, and processes.
Required Experience/Skills for the Accounting Manager:
- 5 – 8+ years of combined cost accounting and FP&A experience.
- A manufacturing background is required.
- Experience within a large, complex organization (multi-entity, intercompany, multi-region) is required.
- Strong SAP experience and advanced Excel skills.
- SQL is required.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and push back when needed.
- Demonstrated career stability and progression.
- Ability to step into the role with minimal learning curve.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Accounting Manager:
- A CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
