Our client is a global logistics company specializing in ocean freight, providing end-to-end transportation and supply chain solutions to move cargo efficiently and reliably across international markets. They are looking to add an Import Clerk to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$26/hr
Position Overview:
This Import Clerk role is responsible for auditing ocean freight invoices, coordinating import documentation, and ensuring accurate, timely processing of shipments with a strong focus on attention to detail.
Responsibilities of the Import Clerk:
- The Import Clerk will review and authorize ocean freight invoices, ensuring accurate rates and charges before submission to Accounts Payable.
- Coordinate with ocean carriers and forwarders to resolve billing discrepancies and expedite urgent shipments.
- Review and approve warehouse and trucking invoices, ensuring proper reference, accuracy, and documentation.
- The Import Clerk will verify shipment receipts for completeness and report discrepancies to internal teams for resolution.
- Provide backup support for rate requests, shipments, and additional projects as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Import Clerk:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in freight forwarding or logistics, preferably in an import environment.
- Prior experience handling import shipments and related documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to review and verify invoices and shipment records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel (spreadsheets and forms).
- Experience with SAP is a plus.
Education Requirements:
- At least 1 year of experience in importing or logistics is required.
