Client Overview:

Our client, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization, is looking for a motivated Grant Accountant to join their Accounting team at their Tampa, Florida headquarters. This is a valuable opportunity for a Grant Accountant professional to join an internationally known organization and support their long-term strategy and growth. The Grant Accountant must be a focused and diligent worker who excels in both accounting and federal grant funding.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$55k – $65k

Position Overview:

The Grant Accountant will join the unified Accounting Department, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and working closely with the Senior Accountant. The Grant Accountant will oversee and audit the work of grant accounting while supporting general ledger maintenance duties and ensuring compliance across multiple funding sources.

Responsibilities of the Grant Accountant:

  • Manage general ledger activities and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Regularly review federal and state grants to ensure accounting accuracy and compliance.
  • Record both grant revenue and expenses accurately and timely.
  • Handle all reconciliations related to grants and general accounting functions.
  • Prepare journal entries and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Support month-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare and review AR and AP aging reports.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and grant reporting.
  • Review compliance for federal, state, local, and private grants.

Required Experience/Skills for the Grant Accountant:

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Highly proficient in Excel including VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and formulas.
  • Self-sufficient with the ability to work well independently.
  • Detail-oriented with strong numerical accuracy.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Grant Accountant:

  • Experience working within a nonprofit organization is a plus.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
