Our client, a mission-driven non-profit organization, is on the hunt for a detail-loving Grant Billing Specialist who thrives on accuracy, compliance, and making a real-world impact. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$26/hr – $35/hr (Contract-to-Hire, with conversion salary of $70k – $75k)
Position Overview:
This is not your average billing role. As a Grant Billing Specialist, you will be at the heart of financial operations, ensuring government-funded contracts are billed accurately and comply with all regulations. You will partner with Program teams, contribute to budgeting, and keep a close eye on financial performance—all while helping the organization continue its impactful work.
Responsibilities of the Grant Billing Specialist:
- Prepare and submit government contract billings and financial reports with precision.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and contract-specific regulations.
- Assist in developing budgets, making budget modifications, and renewing contracts.
- Monitor cost allocations and analyze budget variances.
- Produce monthly financial reports and support program and finance meetings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
- Support audits and maintain thorough documentation of billing processes.
Required Experience/Skills for the Grant Billing Specialist:
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or grant billing.
- Hands-on experience with Passport software.
- Background in non-profit billing, preferably with government contracts.
- Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with budgeting and financial reporting.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Grant Billing Specialist:
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge.
- Familiarity with fund accounting and non-profit financial structures.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
