Salary/Hourly Rate:

$100K – $120K annually OR $50/hr – $56/hr

Position Overview:

As the Financial Manager, you will oversee budgeting, forecasting, grant management, and compliance while partnering across Finance, Accounting, HR, Payroll, and Operations. You will also lead a bookkeeping team to ensure accuracy and efficiency. This role blends strategic financial oversight with hands-on management and is ideal for someone who enjoys both analysis and execution. The start date for this role is May 11th (or sooner).

Responsibilities of the Financial Manager:

  • Manage divisional and grant budgets, including modifications and forecasting.
  • Track financial performance across government-funded programs and fundraising initiatives.
  • Perform monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis and provide actionable insights.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts, funding requirements, and financial regulations.
  • Maintain organized grant records and audit documentation.
  • Review invoices, payroll reports, journal entries, and cost allocations for accuracy.
  • Coordinate vendor communications and oversee purchasing approvals.
  • Present financial updates during monthly leadership meetings.
  • Support HR processes including hiring coordination, payroll adjustments, and staff documentation.
  • Lead and mentor bookkeeping staff.
  • Ensure cross-training and full coverage across all program budgets.
  • Review timesheets, manage team performance, and coordinate training initiatives.

Required Experience/Skills for the Financial Manager:

  • Strong background in bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
  • Passion for working in mission-driven environments.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Financial Manager:

  • Experience managing grants or government-funded budgets.
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff.
  • Background in nonprofit or public sector finance.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Math, or related field.
  • OR Associate’s degree with 5+ years of bookkeeping experience.
  • OR High school diploma with 8+ years of relevant bookkeeping experience.
