Client Overview:

Our client, a growing food manufacturing organization focused on producing high-quality consumer products in a regulated, safety-driven environment, is looking to hire a Production Lead – 1st Shift (Food Manufacturing). The company emphasizes operational excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement within its production facilities.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$26/hr – $27/hr, commensurate with experience, plus a quarterly factory incentive bonus plan

Position Overview:

The Production Lead – 1st Shift (Food Manufacturing) is responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, and supporting a collaborative, high-performing production team. This role serves as a key liaison between production staff, quality teams, and leadership to ensure smooth shift execution and efficient changeovers. The hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm, with the occasional OT.

Responsibilities of the Production Lead – 1st Shift (Food Manufacturing):

  • Lead day-to-day production operations to meet safety, quality, and efficiency goals.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing established safety programs and procedures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety audit requirements.
  • Monitor product quality and collaborate with Quality teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the production area.
  • Perform ERP transactions related to inventory control, materials movement, and reconciliation.
  • Complete required system checks including pre-shift inspections, attendance tracking, shift handoffs, and sanitation verifications.
  • Support effective communication during shift transitions and escalate personnel or performance concerns to management as needed.
  • Promote respectful, professional, and solutions-oriented interactions among team members.

Required Experience/Skills for the Production Lead – 1st Shift (Food Manufacturing):

  • 2+ years of supervisory or line leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience in food, bakery, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work with diverse, multilingual teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict and maintain team engagement.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • ERP system experience (e.g., Redzone, SAP, or similar).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Production Lead – 1st Shift (Food Manufacturing):

  • Commercial bakery manufacturing experience.
  • Redzone ERP experience.
  • Familiarity with inventory reconciliation and materials flow in a production setting.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Post-secondary education or technical training is preferred.
