Client Overview:

Our client is a well-established company within the consumer goods and specialty manufacturing space. They are looking to expand their team by bringing on a Quality Control Technician.

Salary/Hourly Rate: 

$24/hr – $26/hr

Position Overview: 

The Quality Control Technician will support routine QC testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods within a GMP-regulated laboratory environment. This role will involve a combination of sensory evaluation, wet chemistry, physical testing, documentation, and basic analytical lab support. This Quality Control Technician will train on a Monday-to-Friday daytime schedule for the first 6 – 8 weeks. After training, the long-term schedule will transition to Tuesday through Saturday. Additional Saturday hours and overtime may be available based on business needs.

Responsibilities of the Quality Control Technician:

  • Perform routine quality control testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods to ensure compliance with internal specifications and product safety standards.
  • Conduct sensory assessments, including odor, taste, color, appearance, and other organoleptic evaluations.
  • Perform wet chemistry testing, including titrations, pH, acid value, saponification, and related chemical methods.
  • Conduct physical testing such as specific gravity, refractive index, melting point, flashpoint, moisture, and other material characteristic evaluations.
  • Support analytical testing using laboratory instrumentation, which may include GC, GC-MS, infrared, ICP, Karl Fischer, densitometers, refractometers, balances, and related equipment.
  • Load GC samples and support sample preparation, with potential to train on additional GC analysis responsibilities over time.
  • Enter test results and documentation into lab notebooks, SAP, databases, or other internal systems.
  • Document non-conformances and support investigations by collecting, summarizing, and extracting relevant data.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Follow GMP, safety, quality, and hazardous material handling procedures.
  • Assist with additional projects or extended hours as needed to support business needs.

Required Experience/Skills for the Quality Control Technician:

  • Must have hands-on GMP experience from an industry lab environment.
  • Ideally 2 – 3 years of relevant QC laboratory experience; open to candidates with 1+ year of strong, directly relevant experience.
  • Hands-on wet chemistry experience required, such as titrations, melting point, pH, acid value, saponification, or similar testing.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.
  • Must be comfortable participating in sensory evaluation, including odor testing; candidates should have a strong or developing sensory capability.
  • Must be able to work the long-term Tuesday–Saturday schedule after training and support extended hours or overtime as needed.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Quality Control Technician:

  • SAP, databases, and Microsoft Office experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of chemical substances, hazardous materials, and safe lab practices is preferred.
  • Prior experience in analytical QC, sensory evaluation, fragrance, flavor, food, personal care, chemical, pharmaceutical, or specialty manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory instruments such as balances, densitometers, refractometers, moisture balances, Karl Fischer titrators, sieve testing equipment, or GC is preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical/scientific field is required.
