They are currently seeking an Equipment Maintenance Engineer.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$140k – $155k

Position Overview:

The Equipment Maintenance Engineer provides engineering expertise to the maintenance team with the goal of improving equipment reliability, operational productivity, safety, and service standards at refinery dock facilities. This role requires active engagement with heavy dockside machinery and close collaboration with dock operations personnel. The Equipment Maintenance Engineer will lead maintenance improvement initiatives, oversee maintenance-related projects, and support operational excellence by implementing reliability-centered maintenance strategies. This position requires a hands-on approach and a strong presence in the field to ensure equipment performance and operational continuity.

Responsibilities of the Equipment Maintenance Engineer:

  • Drive improvements in equipment uptime through the development and refinement of preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Lead initiatives focused on predictive maintenance and condition monitoring.
  • Manage maintenance projects from initial concept through design, scheduling, procurement, and execution phases.
  • Diagnose mechanical and operational issues, formulate repair strategies, and define repair scopes.
  • Produce technical drawings and fabrication plans as required.
  • Oversee the accuracy and currency of equipment records and control spare parts inventories.
  • Direct maintenance personnel and external contractors during planned outages and project activities.
  • Track and analyze maintenance performance metrics, ensuring adherence to safety and reliability standards.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions aligned with departmental and facility objectives.
  • Propose and support capital and engineering projects that foster continuous operational enhancements.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable food safety and quality regulations in maintenance operations.

Required Experience/Skills for the Equipment Maintenance Engineer:

  • 4-8 years of direct experience with heavy dockside industrial equipment such as cranes, conveyor systems, elevators, loaders, and associated machinery.
  • Proven experience working in dock environments and managing material transfers between vessels and facilities.
  • Familiarity with process equipment including evaporators, condensers, heat exchangers, piping systems, pumps, motors, rotary dryers, kilns, and vacuum pans.
  • Competence in developing and interpreting process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and process control technologies.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with dock operations teams; this role requires field presence rather than office-based work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and AutoCAD software.
  • Experience leading reliability enhancement initiatives and providing guidance to less experienced engineers.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Equipment Maintenance Engineer:

  • Extensive background in the operation and maintenance of industrial dockside cranes.
  • Experience participating in capital investment projects related to dock and refinery equipment.
  • Professional communication skills with the ability to adapt to working with individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
