Client Overview:

We are seeking a passionate Freelance Women’s Denim Designer to represent our client, a well-known fashion brand located in New York. This Freelance Women’s Denim Designer will support the Apparel team in creating edgy denim and non-denim products.

Salary/Hourly Rate: 

$40/hr

Position Overview: 

We are seeking a creative and trend-driven Freelance Women’s Denim Designer to develop innovative denim collections that align with our brand vision and target customer. The ideal candidate has strong experience in women’s denim design, washes, fits, fabric development, and garment construction, with the ability to take concepts from inspiration through production-ready technical packages.

Responsibilities of the Freelance Women’s Denim Designer:

  • Research global fashion, denim, and consumer trends to create seasonal concepts. 
  • Design women’s denim products, including jeans, jackets, skirts, shorts, dresses, and coordinated separates. 
  • Develop mood boards, color palettes, silhouettes, wash concepts, and trim ideas. 
  • Create detailed technical sketches using Adobe Illustrator. 
  • Prepare comprehensive tech packs with construction details, measurements, BOMs, and sewing instructions. 
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Merchandising, and Sourcing teams throughout the design process. 
  • Work closely with overseas factories and vendors on sample development and fit corrections. 
  • Review prototypes and provide fit comments and design revisions.

Required Experience/Skills for the Freelance Women’s Denim Designer:

  • 4 – 7+ years of experience designing women’s denim apparel. 
  • Strong understanding of denim fabrics, garment construction, washes, dyeing, and finishing techniques. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office. 
  • Experience creating production-ready tech packs.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Freelance Women’s Denim Designer:

  • Women’s denim experience and understanding of denim washes.
  • Able to design lines from the beginning through production.

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field is preferred.
