Our client is a leading fashion and apparel company seeking an experienced Technical Designer to support the development and production of apparel products. Â
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$40/hr – $46/hr Â
Position Overview:
The Technical Designer will support the product development process by evaluating samples, ensuring proper fit and measurements, reviewing garment construction, and communicating technical updates to internal teams and vendors. This role will work closely with Design and Production to help bring products from concept through production while maintaining fit and quality standards. Â
Responsibilities of the Technical Designer:
- Evaluate and measure development and production samples for fit, construction, quality, and accuracy.
- Partner with Design and Production teams throughout the product development process.
- Create and maintain technical specifications and product information.
- Lead and participate in fit sessions and provide detailed fit comments.
- Communicate fit, construction, and technical updates to vendors and internal teams.
- Review and update measurements, grading, and construction details as needed.
- Maintain technical records, fit standards, and sample tracking information.
- Follow up on samples and development timelines to ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve fit and construction issues.
- Support additional technical design projects and responsibilities as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Technical Designer:
- 4 – 5 years of Technical Design experience.
- Strong understanding of garment fit, construction, measurements, and technical specifications.
- Experience conducting fit sessions and providing fit comments.
- Ability to read and understand technical packages and garment specifications.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical design/product development systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Technical Designer:
- Experience in apparel, fashion, or retail.
- Experience working with vendors and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with PLM or similar product development software.
- Patternmaking knowledge is a plus.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel, or a related field is preferred.
