Client Overview:

Our client, a well-established financial institution dedicated to helping individuals and businesses reach their financial goals, is seeking a Loan Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. This is a great opportunity for a lending professional who enjoys building relationships, guiding members through the loan process, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$24/hr

Position Overview:

The Loan Officer will play a key role in helping members secure consumer lending solutions that meet their needs. From application through funding, the Loan Officer will guide borrowers through the lending process, evaluate loan requests, ensure documentation accuracy, and identify opportunities to introduce additional products and services. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in consumer lending and underwriting.

Responsibilities of the Loan Officer:

  • Interview members and assist with completing loan applications.
  • Review, process, underwrite, and close consumer loans in a timely manner.
  • Educate members on available lending products and financial solutions.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and promote additional products and services.
  • Ensure loan files and supporting documentation are complete, accurate, and compliant.
  • Evaluate borrower financial information and provide guidance on repayment options.
  • Maintain and update loan and credit files throughout the lending process.
  • Resolve member concerns and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Stay informed on lending products, policies, and industry regulations.
  • Support business development efforts by promoting lending services to new and existing members.
  • Assist with oversight and training of lending personnel as needed.
  • Monitor delinquent accounts, prepare reports, and coordinate with collections teams.
  • Review account activity and update records to reflect status changes.

Required Experience/Skills for the Loan Officer:

  • Experience with consumer lending and loan underwriting.
  • Strong knowledge of loan application, approval, and closing processes.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and make sound lending decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with loan processing systems and financial software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Loan Officer:

  • Previous experience working within a credit union or community banking environment.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience within a lending team.
  • Knowledge of lending regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and at least 4 years of lending and underwriting experience will be considered.
