Client Overview:

Our client, a leading fashion company, is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Associate Designer to support the Design and Product Development team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in fashion design and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.  

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$25/hr – $27/hr  

Position Overview:

The Associate Designer will support the Design team throughout the product development process, from concept and trend research through sample development and final product execution. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.  

Responsibilities of the Associate Designer:

  • Assist with the development of seasonal collections and product lines.
  • Conduct trend, color, fabric, and market research.
  • Create sketches, technical drawings, and design presentations.
  • Assist with mood boards, color palettes, and design concepts.
  • Create and maintain tech packs, line sheets, and product specifications.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Merchandising, Production, and Sourcing teams.
  • Review samples and provide feedback on fit, color, construction, and overall design.
  • Communicate design updates and revisions to internal teams and vendors.
  • Maintain organized design files and product information.
  • Support fittings, sample reviews, and other design-related meetings.
  • Assist with additional design projects as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the Associate Designer:

  • 1 – 3 years of fashion or apparel design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the product development process.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Ability to create technical sketches and design presentations.
  • Strong understanding of color, fabric, and garment construction.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative and collaborative approach to design.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Associate Designer:

  • Experience with tech packs and product specifications.
  • PLM experience.
  • Experience attending fittings and reviewing samples.
  • Experience working with vendors and overseas factories.
  • Women’s, men’s, children’s, or accessories design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of current fashion trends and the retail market.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field is preferred.
