Client Overview:

Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization that is looking to add an Accounting & Payroll Supervisor to their growing team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$60k – $70k Depending on experience

Position Overview:

The Accounting & Payroll Supervisor oversees accounting, payroll, grant and contract compliance, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This role supports budgeting, ensures financial accuracy, and supervises accounting and payroll staff.

Responsibilities of the Accounting & Payroll Supervisor:

  • Manage grant, contract, and payroll accounting functions while ensuring compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, journal entries, revenue recognition schedules, and support month-end close activities.
  • Monitor budgets, spending plans, contract performance, and key financial metrics, providing analysis and recommendations to leadership.
  • Oversee payroll processing, benefit reconciliations, payroll tax compliance, and coordination with Human Resources.
  • Supervise accounting and payroll staff, maintain internal controls, develop procedures, and implement process improvements.

Required Experience/Skills for the Accounting & Payroll Supervisor:

  • 3 – 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within nonprofit, grant-funded, or government-funded organizations.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Accounting & Payroll Supervisor:

  • Nonprofit accounting and grant compliance experience.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
  • Familiarity with government-funded contracts and reporting requirements.
  • Experience developing and improving accounting processes and internal controls.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
