Client Overview:

Our client is a growing real estate company expanding throughout the South Florida market. With multiple business lines and a continued focus on acquiring new opportunities, the organization offers a dynamic and evolving environment for accounting professionals. They are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to support their growing finance team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$65K – $70K

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the company’s financial activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and reporting requirements. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with an interest in the real estate industry and a desire to contribute to a growing organization. The ideal Staff Accountant will have strong Excel skills, experience with full-cycle accounting, and the ability to manage multiple financial processes, including financial reporting, general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close activities. An Excel assessment will be required as part of the hiring process.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, review and post journal entries, and monitor transactions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, vendor payments, and customer collections.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes while coordinating with other teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and forecasts, monitor performance, and provide variance analysis.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making and identify trends and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Assist in preparing tax returns and support audits while ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations.
  • Work with external advisors and internal stakeholders to support accounting and financial reporting initiatives.

Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Strong Excel skills are required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, including financial reporting and month-end close.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience within the real estate industry is a plus.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA is a plus.
  • Continuing education in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, compliance standards, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools is preferred.
