Our client is a well-established company in the real estate industry. They are seeking a motivated accounting professional to join their team as the Project Accountant and contribute to the financial management and reporting of their growing portfolio.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$65k – $75k
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to join our client’s team. This position will support project financial management by performing accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, and providing financial reporting support. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities of the Project Accountant:
- Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting support.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain and analyze project financial records, including tracking expenses, costs, and variances.
- Support project accounting and job cost accounting functions, including monitoring project-related financial activity.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and support process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Project teams and internal stakeholders to gather financial information and address questions.
- Provide audit support and maintain organized financial documentation.
Required Experience/Skills for the Project Accountant:
- 6+ months of accounting experience with exposure to full-cycle accounting processes.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Project Accountant:
- Project accounting or job cost accounting experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience supporting project-based organizations, construction, real estate, or professional services industries.
- Familiarity with accounting software and financial reporting systems.
- Experience in analyzing financial data, budgets, and project costs.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required for candidates with limited experience.
- Candidates with a non-accounting degree must have 3+ years of accounting experience.
