Our client is seeking a Project Finance Manager to join their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$125k – $150k
Position Overview:
The Project Finance Manager will oversee the financial performance of construction projects from planning through completion. This role will be responsible for monitoring project budgets, forecasting costs, evaluating financial risks, managing change impacts, and providing strategic insights to leadership. The ideal candidate combines strong construction industry knowledge with exceptional analytical and financial management skills.
Responsibilities of the Project Finance Manager:
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost projections throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project financial performance and identify variances between actual and planned costs.
- Prepare and present financial reports, analyses, and recommendations to leadership.
- Analyze project spending trends and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings.
- Support project planning efforts through financial review of schedules, scopes, and resource requirements.
- Evaluate potential financial risks and implement strategies to minimize budget exposure.
- Review contractor proposals, project expenditures, and procurement-related costs.
- Manage the financial impact of project changes and ensure accurate forecasting adjustments.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and financial records.
- Partner with Project Management, Operations, Estimating, and Finance teams to support project success.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for project cost management and financial controls.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to reporting, systems, and project control processes.
Required Experience/Skills for the Project Finance Manager:
- 5+ years of experience in construction cost management, project controls, quantity surveying, or construction finance.
- Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of construction project lifecycles, contracts, and change management processes.
- Proficiency with construction management and financial software platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Project Finance Manager:
- Experience supporting commercial construction projects.
- Professional certifications related to project controls, construction management, or cost management.
- Experience evaluating project risk and financial performance across multiple active projects.
- Exposure to capital improvement, renovation, or development projects.
- Strong understanding of construction reporting and project performance metrics.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is preferred.
