Our client is an emerging biotechnology company advancing novel therapies for diseases of the central nervous system. The organization is focused on developing impactful medicines for patients and families affected by complex brain conditions. They are currently looking to add a Medical Science Liaison (CNS) to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$140k – $225k
Position Overview:
The Medical Science Liaison (CNS) role will support Medical Affairs during the prelaunch and potential launch phases of a novel therapy. This Medical Science Liaison (CNS) will specifically cover the “central territory” of the United States. The position centers on establishing trusted scientific partnerships, delivering high-quality scientific exchange, and generating actionable insights to guide medical strategy and clinical readiness.
Responsibilities of the Medical Science Liaison (CNS):
- Establish and maintain scientific relationships with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders to support Medical Affairs goals.
- Provide accurate, balanced, and compliant scientific communication on disease states, clinical data, and therapeutic profiles.
- Educate stakeholders on emerging data and treatment paradigms to support prelaunch readiness.
- Collect and synthesize field insights to inform medical strategy and address clinical questions.
- Identify and engage key opinion leaders with guidance from senior team members.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure coordinated field activity execution.
- Represent the organization at scientific meetings, capturing and sharing relevant insights.
- Stay current on CNS/neurology disease areas, clinical developments, and competitive landscape.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, company, and industry standards in all activities.
- Travel up to 4 days per week within the territory to meet with various stakeholders.
Required Experience/Skills for the Medical Science Liaison (CNS):
- 1 – 6 years of experience in medical affairs, clinical practice, or research within biotech/pharma.
- Strong communication skills to convey scientific and clinical information clearly and credibly.
- Proven ability to build professional relationships with healthcare providers.
- Interest in developing expertise in field-based scientific engagement and insight gathering.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel extensively (~60–80%).
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Medical Science Liaison (CNS):
- Experience in neurology or CNS disorders.
- Exposure to payer/market access concepts.
Education Requirements:
- An advanced Clinical or Scientific degree, such as PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, PA, or RN, is required.
