Client Overview:

Our client is a growing clinical research organization focused on advancing patient access to innovative therapies through site-based and decentralized clinical research models. The organization partners with healthcare providers, Research teams, and sponsors to support high-quality clinical studies across multiple therapeutic areas while maintaining a strong commitment to patient safety, operational excellence, and scientific integrity. They are currently expanding their team and looking to add a Principal Investigator (Medical Director).

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$100/hr – $150/hr, Depending on experience 

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Principal Investigator (Medical Director) to provide medical leadership and oversight for clinical research studies conducted within a site-based and hybrid/decentralized environment. The Principal Investigator (Medical Director) will serve as a Principal Investigator and/or Sub-Investigator while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure patient safety, protocol compliance, and high-quality study execution. The Principal Investigator (Medical Director) will provide medical and scientific guidance across clinical trial activities while supporting operational planning, site engagement, and study feasibility assessments. This position is ideal for a physician leader with clinical research experience who enjoys collaboration and contributing to the growth of innovative clinical programs.

Responsibilities of the Principal Investigator (Medical Director):

  • Serve as Principal Investigator (Medical Director) or Sub-Investigator for site-based and decentralized/hybrid clinical trials, ensuring patient safety, regulatory compliance, and data integrity.
  • Review study protocols, assess feasibility, and collaborate with Clinical Operations teams to align studies with appropriate sites and investigators.
  • Build and maintain relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, and research partners to support study enrollment and execution.
  • Provide medical leadership through protocol-specific training, therapeutic expertise, risk assessment, and guidance on recruitment strategies.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives by providing scientific insight, supporting medical affairs activities, and ensuring adherence to GCP guidelines and organizational policies.

Required Experience/Skills for the Principal Investigator (Medical Director):

  • 1 – 3 years of experience working on clinical trials.
  • Experience serving as a Principal Investigator (Medical Director), Principal Investigator, or Sub-Investigator in clinical research environments.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Principal Investigator (Medical Director):

  • Experience working with GLP 1 or Oncology studies would be a plus.

Education Requirements:

  • Must have an MD or DO from an accredited university.
  • Must have an active medical license in Texas.
