Salary/Hourly Rate:
$136k – $175k Annually Â
Position Overview:
The C++ Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable software supporting fixed income trading systems. This role will work closely with Architects, Principal Engineers, Quality Assurance teams, and other Technology teams to build and enhance real-time trading applications. The C++ Software Engineer will own key features from technical design through delivery, contribute to architectural and technical decisions, troubleshoot complex performance issues, and help mentor junior engineers. The ideal candidate will bring strong C/C++ development experience, Unix/Linux expertise, and experience building real-time, event-driven applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical trading technology while contributing to scalable, real-time systems in a highly technical financial services environment. Â
Responsibilities of the C++ Software Engineer:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable C/C++ software solutions.
- Build and enhance technology supporting fixed income trading environments.
- Own key features from technical design through production delivery.
- Collaborate with Architects and Principal Engineers on technical and architectural decisions.
- Develop and support real-time and event-driven applications.
- Work with messaging systems, signals, and database events.
- Partner with QA teams to ensure comprehensive testing and software quality.
- Participate in code reviews and CI/CD processes.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and performance issues.
- Mentor and support junior engineers.
- Apply secure coding practices throughout software development.
- Ensure solutions meet security, risk management, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate effectively with Technology teams in an Agile development environment.
Required Experience/Skills for the C++ Software Engineer:
- Professional experience as a C++ Software Engineer with strong C/C++ development expertise.
- Strong application development experience in Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with messaging technologies such as Solace and Google Protocol Buffers.
- Experience developing real-time or event-driven applications involving messaging, signals, or database events.
- Strong understanding of software design principles and secure coding practices.
- Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working within Agile software development teams.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to take ownership of software features from design through delivery.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the C++ Software Engineer:
- Financial markets or trading systems experience.
- Experience developing low-latency or performance-sensitive applications.
- Experience with microservices and/or serverless architectures.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Docker and containerization experience.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Kiro, Amazon Q, or similar technologies.
- Prior experience mentoring Junior Engineers or contributing to technical leadership initiatives.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience, is required.
