Salary/Hourly Rate:
$43/hr – $45/hr Â
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist – Nutrition to serve as a technical leader within a dynamic analytical laboratory. This role combines hands-on laboratory work with technical oversight, method development, compliance support, and staff mentoring. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining laboratory excellence through analytical testing, instrumentation management, investigation support, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for a science professional who thrives in a highly regulated environment, enjoys solving complex analytical challenges, and is passionate about developing others while driving quality and operational excellence. Â
Responsibilities of the Senior Analytical Chemist – Nutrition:
- Perform and oversee chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using a variety of analytical techniques.
- Lead method development, optimization, verification, and validation activities to support laboratory testing requirements.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, UV-Vis, FTIR, and related technologies.
- Support investigations of out-of-specification (OOS), out-of-trend (OOT), deviations, and other quality-related events, including root cause analysis and CAPA activities.
- Prepare technical reports, test protocols, data summaries, and recommendations based on analytical findings.
- Develop, review, revise, and maintain laboratory documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, forms, and technical procedures.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 17025 standards and other applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
- Participate in internal and external audits and assist with audit readiness activities.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to laboratory staff and junior scientists.
- Support laboratory KPI tracking, continuous improvement projects, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence within the laboratory.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Analytical Chemist – Nutrition:
- 4+ years of analytical laboratory experience in a regulated environment.
- Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, UV-Vis, and FTIR.
- Experience with method development, optimization, and validation.
- Strong understanding of laboratory investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA processes.
- Working knowledge of ISO 17025, quality systems, and laboratory compliance requirements.
- Excellent technical writing, documentation, and data interpretation skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to mentor team members and serve as a technical resource within the laboratory.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Analytical Chemist – Nutrition:
- Experience supporting food, nutrition, dietary supplement, consumer product, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
- Prior involvement in internal or external audits.
- Experience implementing process improvements and laboratory efficiency initiatives.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Leadership experience in a technical or project-based capacity.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or related field is required.
- An advanced degree is preferred.
