Client Overview:

Our client is a growing, privately held organization within the logistics industry. They are seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing Accounting team. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative Accounting team, gain meaningful exposure to the full accounting cycle, and play a hands-on role in the company’s continued growth.  

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$65k – $75k DOE  

Position Overview:

This Staff Accountant position is ideal for someone with an Accounting degree, and audit/public accounting experience is highly preferred. This is a very hands-on position with significant exposure to the general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations, cash receipts, transaction coding, and day-to-day financial statement activity. The successful candidate will be someone who is analytical, naturally curious, and eager to understand the business behind the numbers.  

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

  • Prepare and post journal entries and assist with general ledger activity.
  • Perform bank account reconciliations and research discrepancies.
  • Process and code accounting transactions.
  • Review and code transactions and receipts through Ramp.
  • Assist with cash receipts and related accounting activity.
  • Support day-to-day financial statement preparation and reporting.
  • Help maintain accurate, complete accounting records.
  • Work closely with the Senior Accountant and accounting leadership on various accounting projects.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and questions.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to the company’s accounting processes and business operations.
  • Assist with month-end and other close-related activities.
  • Support preparation for future audit activity.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as knowledge of the business and accounting function develops or as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Approximately 2 – 3 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Ability to learn new accounting systems and processes quickly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent follow-through and a willingness to work hands-on in the details.
  • Strong professional judgment and common-sense approach to accounting.
  • Ability to work fully onsite in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

  • Public accounting or audit experience.
  • Experience working with NetSuite.
  • Experience with Ramp or similar expense management platforms.
  • Experience supporting financial statement preparation.
  • Exposure to audit processes.
  • Experience in a growing or evolving accounting environment.
  • Strong desire for career advancement and increased responsibility.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
