Position Overview:

The HR Director will serve as a key resource for employees and leadership, providing hands-on support across a broad range of human resources functions. This individual will be responsible for employee relations, HR administration, compliance, recruiting, and day-to-day HR operations.
The ideal candidate is approachable, positive, and comfortable working with employees at all levels of an organization. They should be able to balance strategic HR initiatives with the day-to-day needs of a hands-on HR department. Candidates who have experience working as the sole HR professional or in a small HR team are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities of the HR Director:

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers at all levels of the organization.
  • Manage and address employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, performance issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment-related matters.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, and personnel documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
  • Administer and maintain the organization’s HRIS and employee data.
  • Partner with leadership on HR policies, procedures, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees as needed.
  • Support performance management and employee development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and organizational policies.
  • Prepare and analyze HR reports and employee data using Excel.
  • Assist with benefits administration and other HR programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, policies, and the overall employee experience.
  • Handle day-to-day HR responsibilities in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

Required Experience/Skills for the HR Director:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • Strong HR Generalist experience with a broad understanding of HR functions.
  • Strong employee relations experience with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels.
  • Experience working in a hands-on HR environment.
  • Experience with a major HRIS system.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and positive relationships throughout an organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee matters.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with leadership and employees.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the HR Director:

  • Experience with Paylocity.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Nonprofit or mission-driven organization experience.
  • Experience as the sole HR professional or primary HR point of contact within an organization.
  • Experience supporting an organization with approximately 70 employees.
  • Experience developing or improving HR policies, procedures, and processes.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field required.
