Our client is an apparel company focused on design, currently developing new product lines alongside existing collections. They are looking to add an Assistant Designer to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$50k – $65k Annually
Position Overview:
The Assistant Designer will support the design team by handling product lifecycle management (PLM) tasks, creating tech packs, performing light CAD work, managing color changes, and following up on specifications. The role reports directly to the head designer and offers opportunities to develop CAD skills further.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Designer:
- Manage PLM-related tasks efficiently.
- Prepare and update tech packs.
- Perform light CAD design work and color flips.
- Follow up on product specifications.
- Collaborate closely with the Head Designer and Design Director.
- Participate in the interview process, including resume review, CAD sampling, and portfolio presentation.
Required Experience/Skills for the Assistant Designer:
- 1 – 3 years of relevant experience or strong internships in design.
- Solid background in tech packs and specification management.
- Decent CAD skills with the ability to grow and improve.
- Flexibility in work hours as needed.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Assistant Designer:
- General design skills applicable to apparel design.
- Experience with PLM systems is a plus.
Education Requirements:
- Not required.
- Relevant design education or equivalent experience is preferred.
