Salary/Hourly Rate:
$200k – $220k Annually, Commensurate with experience
Position Overview:
As the Associate Director of Engineering, you will lead the architecture and implementation of web services, APIs, data stores, and infrastructure for our client-facing portal application. You’ll get to work with the latest technology paradigms on Google Cloud, including modularity, functional programming, and reactive applications.
Responsibilities of the Associate Director of Engineering:
- As the Associate Director of Engineering, architect and build high-performance, responsive web services and APIs to support our client-facing asset management platforms.
- Model the business data into the right data store.
- Add automations to the infrastructure.
- Hands-on code, write unit testing, and conduct code reviews.
- Work directly with engineering, product, design, and business teams throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Required Experience/Skills for the Associate Director of Engineering:
- 5+ years of working experience.
- Expert knowledge of Java.
- Expert knowledge of RDBMS.
- Strong understanding of functional programming paradigms.
- Understand the unique set of performance challenges, concerns, and tradeoffs inherent to web applications.
- Familiarity with unit testing tools.
- Proven track record of delivering performant web applications.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
- A strong understanding of finance fundamentals within code.
- Experience working in the quantitative space, whether building products or working alongside quants.
- Passionate about software and technology.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Associate Director of Engineering:
- Experience with Google Cloud.
- NoSQL experience is a plus.
- Experience in modularity and reactive applications.
Education Requirements:
- A Computer Science degree is required.
