Salary/Hourly Rate:

$200k – $220k Annually, Commensurate with experience

Position Overview:

As the Associate Director of Engineering, you will lead the architecture and implementation of web services, APIs, data stores, and infrastructure for our client-facing portal application. You’ll get to work with the latest technology paradigms on Google Cloud, including modularity, functional programming, and reactive applications.

Responsibilities of the Associate Director of Engineering:

• As the Associate Director of Engineering, architect and build high-performance, responsive web services and APIs to support our client-facing asset management platforms.
• Model the business data into the right data store.
• Add automations to the infrastructure.
• Hands-on code, write unit testing, and conduct code reviews.
• Work directly with engineering, product, design, and business teams throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Required Experience/Skills for the Associate Director of Engineering:

• 5+ years of working experience.
• Expert knowledge of Java.
• Expert knowledge of RDBMS.
• Strong understanding of functional programming paradigms.
• Understand the unique set of performance challenges, concerns, and tradeoffs inherent to web applications.
• Familiarity with unit testing tools.
• Proven track record of delivering performant web applications.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
• A strong understanding of finance fundamentals within code.
• Experience working in the quantitative space, whether building products or working alongside quants. 
• Passionate about software and technology.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Associate Director of Engineering:

• Experience with Google Cloud.
• NoSQL experience is a plus.
• Experience in modularity and reactive applications.

Education Requirements:

• A Computer Science degree is required.
