Our client is a rapidly growing global organization seeking a Director of Shared Services to support enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. The company operates in a complex, multi-entity environment and is focused on leveraging technology and process optimization to scale operations and enhance performance as it prepares for a major corporate milestone.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$200k – $235k plus bonus
Position Overview:
Reporting to senior finance leadership, this Director of Shared Serviceswill provide strategic and operational oversight of centralized finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and travel & expense. The Director will lead the buildout and optimization of a global shared services organization, ensuring strong internal controls, high-quality service delivery, and scalable processes across multiple systems and entities. This role will also serve as a key partner in system integration, automation, and transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities of the Director of Shared Services:
- Define and execute the strategic vision and operating model for the Shared Services function.
- Establish governance frameworks, SLAs, and KPIs to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Lead transformation initiatives focused on process standardization, automation, and efficiency improvements.
- Oversee core shared services functions including AP, AR, cash application, payroll, travel & expense, fixed assets, and lease accounting.
- Serve as business owner for finance-related systems and processes across multiple ERP environments.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, HR, IT, Procurement) to align operations with business objectives.
- Support system implementations and integrations across finance, HRIS, and expense management platforms.
- Ensure SOX compliance through design, documentation, and enforcement of internal controls.
- Partner with internal and external auditors to support testing, audits, and remediation efforts.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation tools (RPA, OCR, workflow solutions, analytics platforms).
- Develop and monitor KPIs to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for optimization.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team across multiple functional areas.
- Foster a culture of accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Support organizational transitions and system migrations within a multi-entity environment.
Required Experience/Skills for the Director of Shared Services:
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in finance operations, shared services, or controllership.
- Strong experience managing shared services functions in a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP FI/CO and related finance modules.
- Deep understanding of SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Proven leadership experience managing large, cross-functional teams.
- Experience driving process transformation, automation, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Director of Shared Services:
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA and enterprise tools such as Concur, Ariba, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with automation technologies (RPA, OCR, workflow tools).
- Experience integrating finance systems with HRIS and payroll platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG).
- Strong analytical capabilities with experience leveraging dashboards and KPIs.
- Background in global or multi-national organizations.
- Experience supporting large-scale system implementations or carve-outs.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
Preferred Education/Certifications:
- MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred.
