Client Overview:

Our client, a well-established consumer packaged goods (CPG) company, is seeking an Innovation Project Manager (CPG) to support new product and packaging initiatives within their innovation team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$43/hr – $45/hr

Position Overview:

This role will focus on driving cross-functional collaboration and ensuring innovation projects move efficiently from concept through execution. This is a highly visible role supporting leaders across innovation, operations, and commercial teams to bring new ideas and product improvements to market.

Responsibilities of the Innovation Project Manager (CPG):

  • Lead and manage multiple innovation and product development projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones to ensure projects remain on track.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between teams, including marketing, operations, supply chain, R&D, and finance.
  • Facilitate project meetings, align stakeholders on priorities, and drive decisions across teams.
  • Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address project challenges.
  • Track progress against key milestones and report updates to leadership.
  • Support structured stage-gate innovation processes and help improve project management best practices across teams.
  • Contribute to evaluating project feasibility by understanding consumer insights, business goals, operational impact, and financial considerations.

Required Experience/Skills for the Innovation Project Manager (CPG):

  • 2 – 5 years of project or program management experience, ideally within a CPG or consumer product environment.
  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project planning skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings and align teams around shared goals.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Innovation Project Manager (CPG):

  • Experience supporting new product development or commercialization projects.
  • Familiarity with stage-gate innovation or product development processes.
  • Experience within food & beverage, consumer goods, personal care, or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Project Management certification (PMP or similar) is a plus.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management is required.
