Our client, a leading science-based company in Midtown Manhattan, is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accounting Analyst to join their collaborative Finance & Accounting team. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hr – $33/hr
Position Overview:
As a Junior Accounting Analyst focused on Accounts Payable, you will be the go-to support for keeping financial operations accurate, timely, and running smoothly. From processing invoices and expense reports to assisting with AR and cash management, you will play a key role in ensuring the finance team stays organized and efficient. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys structured accounting work, thrives in a detail-heavy environment, and wants exposure to both AP and broader corporate finance functions within a science-based organization. This is a 4-month contract with potential for extension.
Responsibilities of the Junior Accounting Analyst:
- Process full-cycle Accounts Payable, including invoice review, coding, and payment execution (wires and checks).
- Serve as a key point of contact for vendor inquiries and AP-related communication.
- Process employee expense reports and corporate credit card transactions.
- Support Accounts Receivable activities, including collections and revenue-related accounting for community solar projects.
- Assist with cash management, disbursements, and financing-related accounting entries (loan draws, flow of funds, etc.).
- Maintain and update balance sheet schedules, including prepaids, accruals, depreciation, and amortization.
- Collaborate with corporate accounting and finance teams on ad hoc projects and reporting needs.
Required Experience/Skills for the Junior Accounting Analyst:
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, AP, or financial analysis.
- Strong hands-on experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and vendor management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Index-Match, SUMIFS, and Pivot Tables.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Junior Accounting Analyst:
- Exposure to Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
- Experience working in a corporate accounting or finance operations environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
