Our client, a well-established, growing food manufacturing company with a large, automated production facility in the Northeast, is looking to hire a Maintenance Manager. The organization operates high-volume, continuous production lines and is committed to operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. Salary/Hourly Rate:

$140k – $150k

Position Overview:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance and reliability efforts within a large manufacturing facility. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages a sizeable technical team, and partners closely with operations to ensure maximum equipment uptime, safety, and productivity. The ideal candidate for the Maintenance Manager combines strong electro-mechanical expertise with proven people leadership and process improvement capabilities.

Responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager:

  • Lead, develop, and optimize a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) program within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Utilize a CMMS to plan, schedule, and track maintenance activities in alignment with production schedules.
  • Manage daily, weekly, and long-term maintenance planning to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Lead and develop a Maintenance team of approximately 20+ mechanics and technicians, fostering engagement and accountability.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, and leadership to align maintenance priorities with business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction.
  • Troubleshoot and support complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Recommend capital improvements and equipment upgrades to enhance performance and availability.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, training, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Manage department budgets, staffing levels, and resource allocation.
  • Serve as a key leader in plant meetings, safety initiatives, and cross-functional projects.

Required Experience/Skills for the Maintenance Manager:

  • 10+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong electro-mechanical background, including automated and heavy machinery.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading maintenance teams in a high-volume production facility.
  • Proven ability to implement and sustain preventive maintenance and reliability programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Maintenance Manager:

  • Experience in food, beverage, packaging, or similarly regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with automated production lines, ovens, and process equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing background.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • MPS experience or similar is preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance leadership experience is required.
