Our client is a leading food production company looking to expand their team by hiring a Microbiologist.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$35/hr – $39/hr
Position Overview:
The Microbiologist will lead and oversee the microbiological analysis and environmental monitoring program. They will support regulatory compliance by partnering with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with ISO 17025 and related standards, among other duties. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership, mentoring, and team supervision skills
Responsibilities of the Microbiologist:
- Perform and develop microbiological analyses on raw materials and finished goods, ensuring accurate results.
- Lead the Environmental Monitoring Program.
- Analyze microbiological test results, report abnormal data, and initiate nonconformities (OOS, deviations) and CAPAs; support root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
- Develop and implement laboratory protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Lead microbiology method verification, validation, and proficiency testing to ensure testing accuracy and reliability.
Required Experience/Skills for the Microbiologist:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in microbiology or a related laboratory environment.
- Strong proficiency in microbiological techniques, laboratory procedures, and data analysis.
- Experience with project management, including planning and executing experimental protocols.
- Ability to investigate nonconformities and support CAPA processes.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Microbiologist:
- Experience working in regulated environments aligned with ISO 17025 standards.
- Experience leading Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP).
- Familiarity with method validation, verification, and proficiency testing processes.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional collaboration.
Education Requirements:
- A PhD, Masters, or Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field is required.
