Client Overview:

Our client is a globally recognized international law firm headquartered in New York, supporting a large-scale, high-availability technology environment across multiple offices and data centers. The firm is known for their commitment to innovation, security, and operational excellence, and is investing in modernizing its network infrastructure to support evolving business needs. They are currently looking to add a Network Engineer to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$140k – $180k Annually (Depending on experience)

Position Overview:

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, support, and management of the firm’s global network and unified communications infrastructure. This Network Engineer role serves as a technical leader within the organization, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing network solutions in a 24×7 enterprise environment. The Network Engineer will also play a key role in modernization initiatives, including cloud integration, automation, and next-generation networking technologies. As a Network Engineer in this global environment, you will help shape network strategy, standards, and best practices. This position is ideal for a Network Engineer who enjoys working on complex, mission-critical systems and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer:

  • Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across global offices and data centers (LAN/WAN, firewalls, load balancers, unified communications).
  • Lead network modernization initiatives, including cloud integration, SDN/SD-WAN, and automation.
  • Partner with security, infrastructure, and application teams to align on architecture, performance, and security.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex network and telephony issues and lead incident response efforts.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams.
  • Define and enforce network standards, change management processes, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including network diagrams, runbooks, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with telecommunications vendors to provision and troubleshoot network circuits.

Required Experience/Skills for the Network Engineer:

  • Strong experience in enterprise and data center network engineering.
  • Proven ability to design and implement large-scale, multi-site network architectures.
  • Deep knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and services (including DNS, DHCP, and NTP).
  • Advanced expertise in LAN/WAN technologies (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPN, DMVPN, QoS).
  • Experience with modern networking technologies (VXLAN, BGP-EVPN, LISP, SDN, SD-WAN, NAC platforms).
  • Experience with firewalls, load balancers, and application delivery controllers.
  • Strong understanding of unified communications and VoIP systems.
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark.
  • Experience working with telecommunications vendors and circuit provisioning.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-availability 24×7 environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Network Engineer:

  • Advanced network certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE).
  • Experience with next-generation firewalls and enterprise wireless technologies.
  • Experience implementing 802.1X and Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.
  • Experience with infrastructure project leadership or technical lead responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with multi-factor authentication systems.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds Orion.
  • Strong documentation skills using tools such as Visio and Microsoft Word.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
