Our client, a respected staffing agency recognized for their commitment to compliance and operational excellence, is seeking a Part-Time Background Check Specialist on a temp-to-perm basis.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$25/hr
Position Overview:
The Part-Time Background Check Specialist will conduct background screenings to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role requires attention to detail, confidentiality, and adherence to fair-chance and equal-opportunity practices.
Responsibilities of the Part-Time Background Check Specialist:
- Perform background checks for candidates, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Document and report findings accurately.
- Ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and anti-discrimination laws.
- Remove any verbiage around background checks from job qualifications, per compliance guidelines.
- Communicate results to HR and hiring managers.
- Support reasonable accommodation requests for applicants with disabilities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant employment laws and data privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with HR to update procedures as laws change.
Required Experience/Skills for the Part-Time Background Check Specialist:
- Availability to work from Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 2 PM.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Familiarity with federal and state employment laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in data privacy compliance (CCPA, GDPR).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Part-Time Background Check Specialist:
- Previous experience in background screening or HR compliance.
- Knowledge of fair chance hiring practices.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems.
- Exposure to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associate’s degree or coursework in HR, business, or a related field is preferred.
