Our client designs, manufactures, and distributes B2B products globally. They are diversified in multiple industries, which makes them stable in an ever-changing economy. They are looking to add a Production Planner to their team. The company has a positive, friendly culture and a new facility in Long Island.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$38/hr – $41/hr
Position Overview:
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production and supply plans that align with demand forecasts and customer delivery requirements. Working closely with manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and quality teams, this role drives efficient production flow through MRP execution, inventory management, and proactive issue resolution. This position reports to the Production Manager. The role will be on-site 5 days a week for the first 90 days and then 3 days a week on-site after that.
Responsibilities of the Production Planner:
- The Production Planner will develop and execute production control plans based on demand forecasts, master schedules, and customer needs; convert MRP signals into actionable production and material orders.
- Monitor inventory levels, safety stock, and lead times to minimize excess while preventing shortages. Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance planning accuracy and reduce costs.
- Partner with Operations to build realistic production schedules. Identify and address capacity constraints for both near- and long-term planning horizons.
- Act as the primary liaison between Demand Planning, Production, Procurement, and Logistics. Communicate constraints and escalate issues as needed.
- Track and report key performance metrics. Conduct data analysis and what-if scenario modeling to surface inefficiencies and support decision-making.
- Proactively identify supply and production risks. Develop contingency plans and resolve issues related to delays, material shortages, or supplier disruptions.
Required Experience/Skills for the Production Planner:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or inventory control within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of MRP, demand planning, inventory management, and production scheduling principles.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with a detail-oriented, problem-solving mindset.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Commitment to workplace safety standards and the company’s code of conduct.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Production Planner:
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to process improvement initiatives.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field is required.
- Associate’s degree or High school diploma with additional professional experience is also accepted.
