Client Overview:

Our client is a diagnostic company specializing in the creation of tools and services for the medical and pharmaceutical industries. They are now looking for a Research Support Intern.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$17/hr

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a Research Support Intern with either a biology/clinical background or a software/machine learning biology background. Ideal candidates are college sophomores or juniors majoring in biology, bioinformatics, or similar areas of study. The candidate should be available to work onsite 25-30 hours per week with flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities of the Research Support Intern:

  • Set up work areas and log incoming clinical specimens.
  • Process blood samples from patients and controls according to protocols.
  • Manage logistics for test kit distribution and receipt at clinical sites.
  • Capture and document microscope images and associated data.
  • Keep detailed laboratory records of procedures and outcomes.
  • Collect and monitor clinical data.
  • Support the development and adherence to procedural guidelines under supervision.
  • Assist in compiling reports on assay results and contribute to scientific communications.
  • Help maintain laboratory organization and ensure equipment readiness.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the Research Support Intern:

  • Foundational understanding of biological and chemical lab techniques and safety, including reagent handling.
  • Motivation to pursue advanced studies in biological sciences or related disciplines.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective written and oral communication abilities.
  • Careful adherence to laboratory instructions with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with lab safety, specimen processing, and reagent preparation.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Research Support Intern:

  • Enthusiasm for conducting independent research projects, spanning from fundamental biological studies to applied clinical research.

Education Requirements:

  • College sophomore or junior majoring in biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, microbiology, molecular biology, or other similar scientific disciplines.
