Position Overview:
The Senior Buyer, Contract Manufacturing is responsible for managing and strengthening relationships with contract manufacturing partners across the U.S. This role plays a critical part in ensuring reliable supply, supporting new product launches, and enabling business growth through effective sourcing, capacity management, and collaboration. The ideal candidate for the Senior Buyer is hands-on, adaptable, and solutions-oriented — someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, brings a flexible growth mindset, and is energized by working closely with contract manufacturers in the cosmetics space. Travel up to 20% is required to visit and support vendor partners. The Senior Buyer – Contract Manufacturing role is hybrid and required to work in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer – Contract Manufacturing:
- Own and manage day-to-day procurement activities with assigned contract manufacturing partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for CMs, building strong, trust-based vendor relationships.
- Lead regular supplier meetings, ensuring clear communication, follow-up, and accountability.
- Support new product launches, tech transfers, and innovation initiatives with manufacturing partners.
- Execute RFQs, evaluate cost structures, and support pricing and contract discussions.
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, R&D, and Finance to support business needs.
- Monitor and manage supplier capacity in alignment with demand and growth forecasts.
- Review pricing updates, PPV reports, and resolve invoice or cost discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate procurement data, pricing, and documentation within internal systems.
- Travel to contract manufacturers as needed to support launches, troubleshoot issues, and strengthen partnerships.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Buyer – Contract Manufacturing:
- 3 – 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain with direct experience working with contract manufacturers.
- Experience supporting manufacturing vendors within beauty, cosmetics, personal care, or adjacent CPG industries.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven relationship-building skills with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Flexible, growth-oriented mindset with a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with ERP systems and advanced Excel functionality.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% domestically.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Buyer – Contract Manufacturing:
- Background in beauty, cosmetics, or personal care manufacturing environments.
- Experience working in a scaling or high-growth organization.
- Experience with SAP.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
