Client Overview: 

Our client is a fast-growing wholesale company based in New York City specializing in women’s activewear, athleisure, and lounge. The company collaborates with well-known brands and sells to leading off-price retailers and department stores nationwide. The team focuses on trend-right products, strong retail partnerships, and speed to market. They are currently looking to add a Technical Designer to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$80k – $87k Annually

Position Overview:

The Technical Designer will be responsible for managing garment fit and technical development from concept through production. This individual will ensure product consistency, maintain technical standards, and support the development process across multiple categories.

Responsibilities of the Technical Designer:

  • Create and update technical packages with garment specifications, measurements, and construction details.
  • Conduct fit sessions and communicate fit comments clearly to vendors and internal teams.
  • Evaluate development samples for fit, construction, and quality.
  • Track fit corrections and ensure revisions are accurately implemented.
  • Collaborate with Design, Production, and Product Development teams throughout the development cycle.
  • Help maintain fit consistency and technical standards across product categories.
  • Support calendar deadlines and seasonal deliverables

Required Experience/Skills for the Technical Designer:

  • 4+ years of technical design experience in women’s apparel.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, and technical terminology.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Technical Designer:

  • Experience in activewear, athleisure, or performance-driven categories is a plus.
  • Exposure to both branded and private label product development is beneficial.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
