Client Overview:

Our client is a well-known fashion and lifestyle retailer seeking a detail-oriented Temp Packaging Designer with strong production art experience to support packaging, labeling, and on-product marketing initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical design background who enjoys working on packaging systems, production updates, and brand consistency across multiple product categories.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$35/hr – $40/hr

Position Overview:

The Temp Packaging Designer will support the development and execution of packaging, labeling, and on-product marketing materials for apparel and accessories. This role is heavily focused on production art and technical packaging execution, including applying branding updates across existing files while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand standards.

Responsibilities of the Temp Packaging Designer:

  • Develop on-product marketing and packaging concepts aligned with brand standards, including comfort, sustainability, quality, and engaging messaging.
  • Create and update packaging, labeling, and production art files using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Apply branding updates across multiple existing packaging and production files for release.
  • Ensure all work follows branding, licensing, and production guidelines.
  • Research emerging trends in packaging design and production techniques.
  • Develop graphic design concepts, mockups, and presentation boards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, production, and merchandising teams on new initiatives.

Required Experience/Skills for the Temp Packaging Designer:

  • 5+ years of experience in packaging design, production art, or printed marketing production.
  • Strong experience working on packaging and labeling for apparel, accessories, or consumer products.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Illustrator.
  • Strong technical production skills with the ability to manage and update high-volume production files accurately.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Temp Packaging Designer:

  • Experience within fashion, retail, or consumer product industries.
  • Background in apparel packaging, labeling systems, and production execution.
  • Ability to balance technical production work with creative branding concepts.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external production partners.
  • Familiarity with sustainability-focused packaging initiatives.

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or Fashion Design is required.
