Our client is a well-established apparel company seeking a Temp Sweater Technical Designer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment supporting the development and production of trend-right knitwear products. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally throughout the product lifecycle.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hr – $35/hr
Position Overview:
The Temp Sweater Technical Designer will be responsible for supporting the technical design and development process for sweater categories from concept through production. This role requires a strong understanding of sweater construction, fit, yarn development, and garment specifications. The ideal candidate will partner closely with design, production, and factory teams to ensure the product is executed accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities of the Temp Sweater Technical Designer:
- Create and maintain detailed technical packages, including garment specifications, measurements, and construction details.
- Interpret design intent and translate it into accurate technical documentation.
- Apply block measurements and grading standards with precision.
- Review prototypes and production samples for fit, construction, quality, and consistency.
- Partner with Design and cross-functional teams to resolve technical and fit issues.
- Communicate technical comments and revisions to factories and vendors.
- Participate in fittings and provide updates based on fit sessions and sample reviews.
- Ensure product meets quality, construction, and costing expectations.
- Support deadlines and seasonal calendars in a fast-paced environment.
Required Experience/Skills for the Temp Sweater Technical Designer:
- 3 – 4 years of technical design experience, preferably in sweaters or knitwear.
- Strong understanding of sweater construction, yarns, and fit across multiple gauges.
- Experience creating and maintaining tech packs.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of garment construction and apparel manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Temp Sweater Technical Designer:
- Experience in women’s sweater categories.
- Experience working with Missy, modern, or plus-size products is a plus.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot technical issues independently.
- Experience partnering with overseas vendors and Production teams.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field is preferred.
