Our client is a fast-growing diagnostic solutions company specializing in cutting-edge and new methods geared towards precision medicine that would be an exciting and challenging role for a 3rd Shift – FL Licensed Medical Technician.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$30/hr – $40/hr Depending on level of experience.

Position Overview:

The 3rd Shift – FL Licensed Medical Technician will perform routine diagnostic testing, pre-analytical processes, and assist with the analytical procedures for patient testing. The 3rd Shift – FL Licensed Medical Technician will be performing tests and interpreting results only under the direct supervision of a qualified Medical Technologist.

Responsibilities of the 3rd Shift – FL Licensed Medical Technician:

  • Biological specimen preparation, labeling, preservation, or fixation, and processing according to established SOPs.
  • Performing moderate to high complexity tests according to established protocols.
  • Preparation and storage of specimens, reagents, and culture media.
  • Assisting in the performance of quality control procedures.
  • Works closely with Lab Technologists and reports all problems to a Lead, General Supervisor, and/or Lab Director.
  • Assists with routine instrument maintenance and daily preventative maintenance activities.
  • Monitors reagent and supply inventory.
  • Assists with the sterilization of glassware, maintaining a neat and clean work bench.
  • Disposes of biohazardous waste according to standard procedures.
  • Organizes patient specimens and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review.
  • Assists with processing for all test methods approved by CAP, NY, and CLIA under the supervision of a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Uses established forms to document test performance, quality activities, and other routine procedures, ensuring completeness and accuracy of laboratory documents.
  • Follows all safety procedures, policies, and precautions and adheres to the laboratory’s Quality Management System.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience/Skills for the 3rd Shift – FL Licensed Medical Technician:

  • Experience working in a CAP/CLIA laboratory (Molecular Biology/Microbiology laboratory).
  • Willingness to work the 3rd shift.
  • Experience in handling human specimens.
  • Strong hands-on experience in pipetting, PCR, aseptic technique, and being able to prevent specimen contamination.
  • Strong data entry skills and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proactive, independent, and mature individual.
  • Good attention to detail and can handle working in a fast-paced environment accurately.
  • Must be tech-savvy for laboratory reporting and analysis.

Education Requirements:

  • FL State Lab Technician License is a Must.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is required.
